Ifa, as discovered by the wise men and women of ancient Africa, was a system designed to allow the Devotee to safely, and successfully, wend their way through whatever conditions existed at any given time.

Since September 11, to most Americans, the world seems to have turned upside down. The actions of yet one more group of Religious Supremacists has created fear and uncertainty in the everyday existence of millions. In truth, it does not need to cast fear and uncertainty in yours!

Virtually every day since the initial attacks, I have received calls asking " How are you, is everything alright with you and your family?" My reply has always been the same: " We are fine.and we will remain fine." This is usually followed by a pause from the caller who is trying to understand exactly what I have said and how it can be true.and how it can apply to their life. To help, I go on to say: " Look, there are crazies out there. There have always been crazies out there. But I am absolutely certain that, as Ifa Priests and practioners , who stay in balance, use and follow our divinations, behave with good character and use our common sense, it cannot happen to us!"

This is exceptionally important to understand. Each generation, every culture has had to deal with its own set of supremacists trying to impose their will on others. Ifa, by correctly viewing our relationship with the world as symbiotic, rather than parasitic, was able to identify the energy matrix of the whole.and our individual place within it. While virtually every other major philosophy and, indeed, culture, has seen the universe as something they can shape to their will by force or coercion, Ifa understood we were simply part of this incredibly intricate complex of living things and energies. Ifa understood that by working within this matrix, rather than in opposition to it, we safely and successfully live our lives

The tool for this is Divination. Divination is the process of being able to access that incredible vortex of energy from which current events are reflected and future events are created. And, when the possibility of the future is perhaps dangerous, or unpleasant, to insert the proper piece of energy ( ebbo ) into the precise spot within the matrix to assure our individual safety and well being.

It is this very humility of understanding our individual place, and relationship, in the Universe that allows us the seemingly enormous power of guiding and modifying our futures. To those Supremacists, or fools, who would like to reshape the entire organism into their vision, there is only futility.

Yet for each and every one of you out there who now fears for your well being , and the well being and happiness of your family and those you love, I assure you there is no need to be afraid. There is only the need to use the tools given us by the brilliant men and women of the ancient Yoruba culture. The rules and tools of Ifa.
