Directions and Importance of Connecting with our Ancestors – Egun/Egungun

The greatest importance of Ancestor Worship for Westerners lies in the knowledge it provides us that our current existence is not "all there is." Next in importance is the responsibility each and every human being has to accumulate meaningful experience and wisdom during their journey here on earth in order to add to the accumulated knowledge of all who came before us, and upon whose shoulders we stand. Finally, is the practical help, advice, wisdom that we can obtain from our ancestors through proper prayer and offerings?
Ifa's worldview can be thought of as the spiritual representation of Einstein's theory of relativity. Our belief in, and practices of, ancestor worship bridges the time gap that Einstein believed must exist between the past, present, and future. In Ifa, we understand that the invisible world of our deceased ancestors combines with the visible world of nature and human culture to form a single organic truth. Through ritual we bridge the relationship between the past and the present, and in the process improve the future. The ritual process of ancestor worship can provide us with profound, quantifiable changes in our everyday lives. But the concept often meets with resistance. The Ifa Foundation provides many ancestor rituals for clearing and connecting with your lineage. We also have a new online course coming available that makes use of Oluwo Fagbamila's book The Way of the Orisa.

Our departed blood relatives comprise the third critical factor in connecting with what is possible, and what will do no harm. Our philosophy believes our ancestors are ALWAYS accessible to us, and that by designated prayer, as well as comfort to, and offerings, our ancestors will join in the process and help us to create the perfect ebbo (solution) for the clients problems. We will also provide the necessary prayers and offerings for you to continue to receive your ancestral help for as long as necessary. Without these three components, there is no total understanding, no long term solutions, and no solutions that will give you the results you seek WITHOUT harming others. We see, quite clearly, that short term solutions, or solutions which try and control others, are based on a feeling of controlling the Universe... ours is a process of awakening the individual to the genuine functioning of the Universe and allowing not only for solutions, but for going forward on our paths in a myriad of ways.
